The Camino lives from people who give pilgrims a roof, a bed and a warm meal. Many albergues are run by volunteers and small associations. When the roof leaks or the heating breaks down, the money is often missing. That’s exactly where Camino Care comes in.
Our idea
Camino Care works like a small foundation: we raise money for real projects along the Ways of St James all over Europe. Every project gets a fixed budget. We only ever raise money for one project at a time, until its budget is reached. Then the next project moves up right away. That way you can see exactly what your donation is needed for right now.

Camino Care is a project by Camino Ninja, the app for pilgrims on the Ways of St James. Donations are collected in three places, all part of Camino Ninja: the Jakobsweg Shop, Caminoshop and the Camino Ninja app. Whatever comes together there for Camino Care goes to the project whose turn it is.
Where we stand
Camino Care is politically and religiously independent. We help all pilgrims, whatever their reason for walking. We are guided by the values of the Way: sharing, solidarity and respect for each person’s own motivations.
Who decides the order
Which project gets funded next shouldn’t depend on us alone. That’s why an association sets the order. We’ll announce here which association it will be as soon as it’s decided.
Transparency
- You can always see which project we’re raising money for and how much is still missing.
- We document every completed project with the amount and photos.
- Camino Care is not (yet) a registered foundation or charity. We say so openly.
- Once a year, we report to the association and here on the website how much was raised and what it was spent on, with receipts.
