2. Principles

We process personal data only insofar as this is necessary to run this website and our services, or you have given your consent. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Maltese data protection law and the applicable national data protection laws of the EU member states.

3. Visiting the website and server log files

When you visit this website, your browser automatically transmits technical data, which is temporarily stored in server log files: IP address, date and time of access, page requested, referrer URL, browser and device type, and operating system.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). Retention: usually up to 30 days, then automatic deletion.

4. Hosting

This website is hosted by easyname GmbH, Canettistraße 5/10, 1100 Vienna, Austria. The host processes the technical data mentioned above on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR), exclusively within the EU.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

5. WordPress and Jetpack

The website runs on WordPress. For security (protection against attacks), backups and simple visitor statistics we use the Jetpack plugin by Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. For statistics, data such as the IP address (shortened or hashed), pages visited, referrer, browser and time of visit are processed. The statistics do not set cookies for visitors and do not create user profiles.

Data may be transferred to the USA in this context. Automattic is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses also apply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in security and anonymised reach measurement). More information: automattic.com/privacy.

6. Cookies

This website only uses technically necessary cookies. The language plugin Polylang stores your chosen language in a cookie (pll_language, stored for up to 1 year) so that the website is shown in your language. When logging in to the admin area, WordPress sets session cookies; this only affects editors. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (strictly necessary cookies).

7. Contacting us by email

If you contact us by email, for example to propose a project, we process the data you send (name, email address, content of your message and any photos) solely to handle your enquiry. Emails to info@caminocare.eu are forwarded to our mailbox at Camino Ninja.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. Retention: up to 3 years after the correspondence has ended, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

8. Donations

Donations via this website are processed through our online shop Caminoshop (caminoshop.com), which runs on the Shopify platform (Shopify International Limited, Victoria Buildings, 2nd Floor, 1–2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, D04 XN32, Ireland). When you click a donation amount, you are redirected to the Caminoshop checkout, where the data required for payment is processed (e.g. name, email address, billing address, payment information). Payment data is received by the respective payment provider; we do not receive full card details.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (processing your donation) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (statutory retention obligations). The privacy policies of Caminoshop and of Shopify also apply: shopify.com/legal/privacy.

On this website we only show total amounts of donations. We do not publish the names of donors.

9. Links to other websites

This website contains links to other services, such as Camino Ninja, the Jakobsweg Shop and Caminoshop. The privacy policies of the respective providers apply to data processing on those websites.

10. Transfers to third countries

Where services we use process data outside the EU/EEA, we ensure an adequate level of data protection, for example through an adequacy decision (EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework) or the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

11. Your rights

You have the following rights towards us:
